QUESTION:
"Hi, Greener Grass Awaits is definitely one of my favorite games by far. Love the atmosphere, ost, characters and gameplay all around. Super awesome work/art ๐ซถ Have you ever thought about or considered porting to consoles? I'd love to enjoy the experience on Nintendo. "
ANSWER:
Thank you! ๐๐ And no plans for now- porting to console isn't possible for me at the moment.
QUESTION:
"Curious what the development process for greener grass awaits was- did you come up with the golf or horror parts first? did you havw any previous gamedev experience? what was the process for making sure it was scary/tense lik"
ANSWER:
I developed the golfing mechanic first, inspired by the mobile game "Desert Golf". The horror came second, and was mainly developed by thinking about what kind of enemy I was able to program. I discovered during prototypes that the enemy was interesting to play against, with needing to balance the looking at golf vs looking at enemy. From there, I tried to keep the player on their toes by varying the encounters with the enemies. I wanted each one to have a surprising moment rather than just use them all the same way.
QUESTION:
"Two questions: Did you have any particular musical influences on your music? And how would you describe your music to someone who has never heard it? I've thought of it as being like a strange and beautiful hybrid of Pink Floyd and the Beach Boys, as odd as that may sound. But I'm curious how you see it."ย
ANSWER:
I'm usually influenced by whatever music I'm currently listening to! Some specific artists might be George Clanton, The Go! Team (specifically The Scene Between), The Postal Service, and AG Cook. Also I grew up on a lot of 2010s indie dance pop stuff, and love shoegazey and electronic stuff.ย
I do struggle with thinking of what genre I make, but I generally think of my music as pop? It varies for me.
QUESTION:
"Hello. I listened to SPLIT WHOLE recently, and I became very enamoured with the track, Watch. I do not know if I will ever truly go through with it, but I feel rude to just run with a song that seems personal to the artist, so I wanted to ask if I could use the track (with credit) in an animatic/picture video should I decide to do it one day. If not, I respect it wholly. Thank you for sharing your songs once again. ."
ANSWER:
Absolutely! Animatics are neat.
QUESTION:
"Not really a question so feel free to read-and-dodge this, but discovering your music was like stepping outside and taking in the morning air for the first time in a long while. Had some problems last year and was going through a hard phase, but your music never fails to fill me with a sense of elation and calm that I scarcely found anywhere else. Listened to your recent album [I WONDER] on loop for the whole week now, and hopefully for the months to come. Thank you for your works."
